Good Comms

Three years of Good Comms: from vision to reality

As I celebrate the third anniversary of Good Comms, I find myself reflecting on a journey that has been both deeply personal and profoundly impactful. When I founded Good Comms, my vision was clear: to use communication as a force for good in the world. I believed in the transformative power of clear, constructive and equitable communication to drive positive change, both in organizations and in the world. Three years in, that vision has not only sustained me through challenges but has also opened doors I once only dreamed of.

Dream collaborations become reality

When I started Good Comms, I had ambitious goals. I wanted to work with organizations that are leaders in their fields — companies and institutions that shared my belief in the power of communication. Fast forward to today, and I am proud to say that I have had the privilege of collaborating with organizations like Signify, Booking, and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). These names, which were once part of my aspirations, are now part of my professional portfolio.

Each of these collaborations has reinforced my belief in the mission of Good Comms. Working with these global leaders has shown me that when communication is approached with intention and integrity, it can drive meaningful change. It can unite teams, inspire action, and create a shared vision that propels organizations toward their goals.

Belonging at work

Creating a sense of belonging at work has been a central theme in my journey with Good Comms. I believe that when employees feel valued, included, and connected, they are more engaged and motivated, leading to more innovative and resilient organizations.

To advocate for this important cause, I have hosted webinars and spoken for the IABC community and the Shell Alumni Network, sharing insights on how to foster environments where everyone can thrive. These experiences have allowed me to contribute to the broader conversation on belonging and have also deepened my commitment to helping organizations build inclusive cultures.

Personal and professional growth

The journey of Good Comms has been as much about my personal growth as it has been about professional achievements. Over the past three years, I’ve invested in myself as a leader and a communicator. I became a certified coach and facilitator, which has allowed me to bring a deeper level of insight and empathy to my work. I’ve also pursued certifications in social justice, behaviour change and sustainability communication, equipping myself with the knowledge and skills to navigate the complex challenges that organizations and the world face today.

These experiences have not only enhanced my ability to serve my clients but have also deepened my understanding of the role communication plays in fostering inclusive, sustainable, and just workplaces. They’ve reaffirmed my commitment to using communication as a tool for positive impact.

The power of mission-driven work

At the heart of Good Comms is a simple but powerful belief: that communication can and should be a force for good. This belief has guided every project, every client interaction, and every decision I’ve made over the past three years. It’s what drives me to help organizations build communication strategies that are not only effective but also aligned with their values.

In today’s world, where trust is fragile and the need for authenticity is greater than ever, I see my role as helping organizations communicate in a way that is true to who they are. It’s about creating messages that resonate, building cultures of transparency and inclusivity, and ensuring that communication is a tool for creating understanding and building bridges rather than walls.

"Communication is a catalyst for positive change when it creates understanding, builds bridges and breaks barriers."

Gratitude and looking ahead

As I look back on these three years, I am filled with gratitude. I am grateful for the clients who have trusted me to help them navigate their communication challenges, for the mentors and colleagues who have supported me, and for the opportunities that have come my way. Every step of this journey has been a learning experience, and I am thankful for each one.

I am also looking forward. The work of Good Comms is far from finished. There are new challenges to tackle, new collaborations to explore, and new opportunities to use communication as a force for good. I am excited about what the future holds and eager to continue this journey with those who share my vision.

As I celebrate this milestone, I want to invite you to join me in this mission. Whether you’re an organization looking to communicate more inclusively, a professional seeking to improve your communication skills, or simply someone who believes in the power of words to create change, I would love to connect with you.

Here’s to the next chapter of Good Comms and to continuing to make communication a force for good.#
