The Hague, The Netherlands – Filipinos in the Netherlands stood their ground as they shouted “China, out of Philippine Waters!” in front of the Peace Palace in the Hague, the Netherlands. They organized a rally on the occasion of the hearings of the South China Sea case at the Permanent Court of Arbitration.
According to Migrante’s Grace Punongbayan, China has robbed the Filipino people of bountiful fishing grounds with its claim of 90% of the South China Sea, grabbing the Philippines’ entire Extended Continental Shelf and 80% of its Exclusive Economic Zone.
She added that since 5% of the Philippine economy depends on the fishing industry, about 5 million fisherfolks and their families are affected by China’s aggression.
She asked other Filipinos abroad to fight for the country regarding the South China Sea issue since it is still their home. #
